I plan to continue to serve as public address announcer for LCC as well as some Lsssen High sports teams for at least another year as well as keeping active with my karaoke singing.
I would like to thank Lassen Community College and Cougar advisor Richard Swanson for the opportunity to give back to the program that enabled me to earn an AA degree from LCC in the mid 60s as well as a BA degree in journalism from Fresno State in 1969. I then spent five years in radio (music and sports) and 13 years as sports editor of the now defunct Lassen Advocate. Then came 16 years as a data processing technician at the California Correctional Center.
I have enjoyed the friendships of many adults and young people along the way and want to thank everyone who has contributed to my career and enjoyment as a volunteer writer, consultant and announcer. The coaches and athletes have been great and so have the many journalism students I have worked with and mentored. There are so many people I would like to thank individually but I am issuing a general thank you because I don't want to leave anyone out.
Good luck to all the present and future journalism students, coaches and athletes. I'll miss The Cougar but it's time to organize by collectible and the sports book idea has been on my mind for about 10 years. Good luck and God bless you all.
