The two student art show was a success, with 50-60 art show viewers on April 3rd from 5-8 p.m. put on by LCC students Matthew Long and Richard Moore. There was a good turn out, Long and Moore each had at least 30-40 pieces of art on display. Matt Long, 31, said " I was pleased by the turn out." Long s a full time re entry student majoring in art with some additional classes in welding.

Long has two children ages 6 and 11 and says " My children are most important to me and that is why I am improving myself by attending college." Long said. He also says his ultimate goal is earning his bachelor's degree in fine arts and graphic design. Long has been awarded Lassen Art Scholarship for most deserving student, three EOPS/CARE Awards, and has been on the Dean's Honor Roll for his outstanding GPA for a total of five semesters. "

I have participated in three art shows; Lassen Arts Council, Christmas Festival, two on campus shows and had an art showing at the Lassen Arts Council on March 21, 2009." Long said.

Moore describes himself as a fairly random person. He says " It doesn't matter what medium I use steel, burlap, clay, stone, oil paint, canvas, and whatever is on hand I can use." Both artists demonstrated their unique talents on April 3. Moore said "I find everything has a possibility and says that his work has has an energy of its own to the point where I get the feeling that while I am working on it that it is alive."

" I am improving and learning something new along the way, I know that I still have a lot further to go in the future before I'll admit I'm good at anything I do, and I probably never will."
